Sugar Glazed Donuts

The Ingredients

For the Dough:

  •  1 cup full-fat milk
  •  4 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  •  1 cup sugar + 1/4 teaspoon
  •  4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  •  1/2 teaspoon salt
  •  6 tablespoons melted Baker’s Choice
  •  2 large eggs at room temperature
  •  Oil for frying

 

For the Sugar Glaze:

  •  3 cups powdered sugar
  •  6 tablespoons milk
  •  1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How to prepare

  1. In a bowl, mix the milk, yeast, and a tablespoon of sugar, and set aside until the yeast activates.
  2. In another bowl, mix Baker’s Choice, eggs, and sugar.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and beat until well combined.
  4. Add the flour and salt, and knead for ten minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it rest and rise for an hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Flour the surface, roll out the dough to an appropriate thickness, and cut it with a donut cutter.
  7. Cover the donut pieces and let them rise again for 40 minutes.
  8. Heat the oil, then start frying the donuts for two minutes on each side or until golden.
  9. After cooling, cover the donuts with sugar glaze and decorate as desired.
