Dubai Chocolate Baklava

The Ingredients

Ingredients for Baklava Cups:

  • ½ pack of baklava pastry sheets
  • 50g Baker’s Choice
  • Cupcake tray

Filling Ingredients:

  • ¼ kg kunafa
  • 50g Baker’s Choice
  • Pistachio butter sauce

Chocolate Sauce Ingredients:

  • 250g semi-sweet cooking chocolate
  • 50g Baker’s Choice
  • A pinch of salt

How to prepare

Prepare the Baklava Cups:

    1. Melt 50g Baker’s Choice to brush between the layers of baklava pastry.
    2. Cut the pastry into medium-sized squares and brush three layers with melted Baker’s Choice.
    3. Place the layers into a cupcake tray. To shape the pastry properly, use a small cup to press it down into the molds.
    4. (The great thing about Baker’s Choice is that it’s a blend of animal and vegetable fats, which keeps it melted longer than regular types—making it easier to work with in baking.)
    5. Bake in a preheated oven for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Prepare the Filling:

    1. Finely grind kunafa in a food processor.
    2. Lightly toast the kunafa in Baker’s Choice until it turns golden brown, then let it cool.
    3. Mix in 3 tablespoons of pistachio butter and stir well.
    4. Fill the baklava cups with the kunafa mixture.

Prepare the Chocolate Sauce & Assemble:

    1. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a double boiler, stirring gently.
    2. Once the chocolate is melted, add Baker’s Choice and mix until smooth and well combined.
    3. Drizzle one teaspoon of chocolate sauce over each baklava cup.
